The idea of using this technique followed on from the rise of drum machines which enabled producers to find the ‘perfect’ sound for their drum tracks.

We run you through our top 6 drum replacement plugins.ĭrum replacement refers to plug ins or software which analyses the sounds of a drum hit (a snare, tom or kick drum) and uses high-quality samples (within a DAW such as Pro Tools) to replicate that sound with a professionally recorded drum sample in real time.Looking for the best drum replacement/drum trigger plugins?.Problem for me is I really like a lot of the included patterns with AD.Disclosure: We may receive commissions when you click our links and make purchases. Someone asked on their forum about whether or not they would make them available so users could utilize them with other Drum VIs and they said they'd look into it, but that was a long time ago and don't know if it's changed. I like a ride cymbal, ya know!Īddictive Drums puts all there grooves inside one proprietary file.

What did bother me is that in one of the Slate kits I heard no ride cymbal and found they have a Ride instrument called "Ride (X)" and I'm not sure what that's about right now, but it doesn't make any sound that I could see. it works great with Slate and if you get the newest EZ Player Pro they have a mapping specifically for Slate. I don't have any of the Addictive stuff, but I'm assuming you're using it no probs with the Slate stuff? I've found a few mapping inconsistency's with the Slate stuff in regards to using it with ToonTrack solo and I'm hopin' EZ Player Pro resolves that with some ease. I wonder if you can move Addictive drum grooves over to it now? Used to be you couldn't.

You pull one of them up and if it's not what your looking for you try something else. I think it's supposed to be premixed sounds that you either like or don't. I don't think that's the focus of this set. The oh's and rooms seemed to be pretty processed already, so having access to them wouldn't be THAT useful. Am I gonna pan the kick rooms to one side and the snare rooms to the other? Panning the stereo rooms is more useful than adjusting the oh's level? I'm not much of a panner so this seems kind of silly to me. But there is a pan for the close mics and the room mics. There's even an empty space on each instrument where there's room for a knob. Kind of strange, since you can turn the oh's on or off they're obviously on separate tracks, why not just have a level for them like the rooms? This would make a pretty huge difference in the variety of sounds you could get going. There is no insert that I can see for the individual oh's or rooms.

The rooms also come up all together on a fader, so you can adjust the total room mix level. On each drum you can also adjust the room mics level. On each individual drum you can turn the oh's on or off, but not adjust them otherwise. OK, I spent another solid 2 1/2 minutes looking into it and this is what I got
